So many cards!!!

Hi there.
Thanks for popping in.
My day offish, hasn’t actually started yet - and it’s already 3pm!!
I’m rubbish at this down time bit, aren’t I.

But you should have been here in the kitchen last night,
when we finally got in from the NEC.
Made a cuppa, and lit a candle,
and then presented dear old birthday boy Dave with all the wonderful cards and gifts you sent him.

He could not believe it.
All I kept hearing was, “Wow!” and, “Look at this one!”
and “This one is beautiful!”
“A Harley Bookmark! Wow!”
“Shrink Plastic! Check this out Barb!”
“You could frame this one! Look!”

And the farmer was warmed right through to his soul.

He was properly overwhelmed.

And this morning I spent a pleasant hour,
admiring them all at my leisure, and putting them out on display.
Everywhere!

Kitchen, living-room, dining room!
Everywhere!

Shelagh even made him Happy Birthday Bunting.
It is fantastic!!

Every letter is a fabulous jumper!

Check this out!!!

What a super idea!

Look! Even D-A-V-E !

Every one a treasure.
You cannot imagine how chuffed he was.

Having had rather an uneventful birthday,
and having accepted that graciously,

It was just great to see him beaming like a Cheshire cat.
“To think all these people were thinking about me, and I had no idea” he said.

I got his parents’ photo to the front, too.
Because after all, they played a crucial part in his birth day.

And this morning, more cards arrived!
Thank you so very much

You made his day, you really did.
I had felt awful about having to work at the NEC
and leave him here alone.
I mean, if you think about it, it is pretty gutty.
But you all made the difference.
You cared enough to brighten his day,
and it lifted him immensely.

“I’m going to keep them all, too,” he said.

So no need to worry about next year;
I’ll just put these out again!!!

As a Clarity Crafting Community,
we really are so much greater than the sum of our parts, aren’t we.

Love and warmest hugs,

  4. Happy Birthday Dave. It was my 60th this year too, because of my husband's cancer battle I said I didn't want a party, and being as how my hubby is a natural cheapskate he was happy to oblige. So I think I got maybe 5 cards, and one of those was from a team mate in Brazil, so my birthday was a none event, and I didn't even get my new camera because I am undecided and had a lot of expense on one tooth!

    1. Oh Donna , one or two but no not really - decided to clear out the airing cupboard today. I've got 3 bags to go to the charity bin and there's still no room! Were you wet playtime today or were you on the sunny side of the country? Xxxxx

    2. Not wet thankfully but it was very windy. My Mum always laughs when I tell her that a windy playtime sends the children crazy! "Oh just like the dog!" she replies. XX

I had several handmade cards this year for the first time, I have kept them all. Other members of Sazz's group had made them for me. Hope you get a little more rest soon. xx

    2. With you and Barbara in charge of such a great team, the Clarity Community is in safe hands. It is far too special to us all to do anything else but grow in friendship and support. You were definitely missed at the NEC but we all understood why. I was shattered and I was not working, and I was sitting down all day. I heard so many people talking among themselves and saying how pleased they were that you were on the mend. xx Maggie

  36. Evening Donna, Sheila, Dot, Brenda, and Diane, hope you are all well, just arrived home, been celebrating my nieces husband's birthday, we all went out for a family meal.Didn't Dave do well with all his cards? Donna I used to blame the windy weather when my dogs were frisky when I walked them. Can't remember if the children were when it was windy, too long ago.ha ha. I went up to my craft room to put away all my new groovi and other bits from the show last night, thinking I'd make another Christmas card, but got distracted moving things around to make room. Then started to sort out some blank cards and Christmas bits to give to the grand children to make some cards. So never got around to crafting, it's still in a pickle up there, so I've just shut the door in it for now. Do you get side tracked like me, I do it all the time.xx

    1. Oh all the time Pam! Apart from Clarity stamps which I have in folders my other ones are in drawers so it takes ages to find the one I want to use. I can craft for a bit and make a mess but then I have to tidy it up before starting again. Sometimes its just easier to close the door and hope the fairies will tidy it up! Xx

We had a shock today, hubby diagnosed with prostate cancer, I know it's a treatable one and his results are not the worse but, all the same, a worry to start with. :(

    1. What a shock for you and your husband Jackie, thank goodness it's treatable, hope the treatment goes well for him. It's always a worry when you hear the C word. My hubby had a skin cancer under his eye 18 months ago. He only visited the Drs for his yearly check up when he asked him how long had he had this little lump under his eye. Quite a while he said, the Dr sent him to the hospital, turned out to be a Basil Cell Carcinoma. Anyway they managed to cut it all out and all's been well so far, thank goodness. Be thinking of you both.xx

      Delete
    2. Not such great news, hope today the shock has worn off a bit and you can start to process. Either way, come back and keep talking to us as I find it helps to be able to talk about what's worrying you without worrying your husband or family who are trying to deal with it too. Nothing like shining a bit of light on that Worry Monster for cutting it down to the appropriate size to be able to deal with. Best of luck and we are here when you need us. Karen xxx
